Troubleshooting

Symptom Cause & fix
RuntimeError: … requires <pkg> Missing extra — pip install "langstitch-sdk[server\|graph\|llm\|http]".
No graph registered Mark the root graph @graph(entrypoint=True) and ensure its module is imported.
Component missing from info Its module isn't imported — add it to app/__init__.py.
external service … not configured Add it under external_services in config (or pass the right name).
Secret is empty downstream Set the env var; check ${VAR} spelling and env.yaml flattening.
RunEvents not available in production Expected — set LANGSTITCH_DEV_EVENTS=1 only for local debugging.
Config edits not picked up A precompiled application.json wins — re-run langstitch compile (no document).

Debugging tips

  • Run langstitch info to see exactly which components registered. A missing entry almost always means the module wasn't imported from app/__init__.py.
  • Use reset_registry() and reset_config_cache() between tests for isolation.
  • The core imports without any extras — if import langstitch works but a helper raises, you're missing that helper's extra, not the SDK.
